Termz ("we", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Termz collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Termz is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
- Server credentials (hostname, username, password, SSH keys) are stored locally on your device in the iOS Keychain, Apple's hardware-backed secure storage.
- Connection history (timestamps, traffic stats) is stored locally using SwiftData and never leaves your device.
- Command snippets and app preferences are stored locally on your device.
- No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. Termz does not include any third-party analytics SDKs.
Network Communication
Termz connects to remote servers only when you explicitly initiate an SSH or SFTP connection. All communication uses the SSH protocol (encrypted by default).
Termz does not contact any third-party servers, advertising networks, or analytics endpoints. The only network traffic is between your device and the SSH servers you configure.
Keychain & Credential Storage
Passwords and SSH private keys are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain, protected by the device's Secure Enclave hardware. They are never written to disk in plaintext, included in backups by default, or transmitted over the network (except during SSH authentication to the server you connect to).
When you use the Export Config feature, passwords and private keys are explicitly excluded from the exported file.
Biometric Authentication
If you enable the optional biometric lock (Face ID / Touch ID), authentication is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data never leaves the Secure Enclave and is not accessible to Termz.
Third-Party Services
Termz does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or social media SDKs. The app has zero external dependencies that process user data.
iCloud Sync
If iCloud Sync is enabled in a future update, only non-sensitive host metadata (name, hostname, port, username) will be synced via Apple's CloudKit. Passwords and private keys will never be included in iCloud sync data.
Children's Privacy
Termz is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
